Privacy Policy
Metal Ledger (“the App”) is a local-first portfolio tool for coins, bars, rounds, and junk silver. This policy explains what the App accesses, how data is used, and your choices.
Summary
- Your holdings stay on your device (SQLite).
- We do not operate user accounts or sign-in.
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
- Goldbacks and Silverbacks are covered by Goldback Tracker, a separate app.
Information you enter
You may record products, lots, quantities, costs, sales, notes, and optional photos. That information is stored in a local database on your device. It is not transmitted to us or stored on our servers.
Photos
If you attach a photo, the App requests photo library / camera access. Selected photos stay in the App’s private storage on your device. We do not upload them to our servers.
Export and backup
You may export CSV or create an encrypted backup and share it via your device share sheet. Destinations (Files, Mail, AirDrop, etc.) are your choice. We do not receive a copy of exports.
Network use
The App may make limited network requests for non-personal content:
- Spot prices — optional fetch of public metal spot quotes (for example gold-api.com or similar). Cached values may be stored locally. You can enter spots manually and work offline.
- Graded slab lookup — optional cert number lookup against public PCGS/NGC pages when you use Scan. If a site blocks automated fetch, the App opens the official page in your browser.
- In-app purchases — processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not receive your full payment card details.
- Links you open — such as metalledger.app, eclectic-coins.com, or store listings.
These requests do not include your full holdings list, photos, or cost basis unless you deliberately export or share them.
Device storage
The App uses local storage (including SQLite and preferences) for holdings, settings, and cached market data. Uninstalling the App removes local data unless you kept an export or backup elsewhere.
Children
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date above reflects the latest revision. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
